Peru 2001
Arequipa

From Puno we took a night bus to Arequipa. One recommendation: don't
take a bus, except you like the feeling of being for 10 hours in a rollercoaster.
The road is in a terrible bad shape. But the town of Arequipa compensates the
inconvenience of such a bus ride...

The beautiful Plaza de Armas. The climate of Arequipa, at 2325m, is spring
like all the year around.
Arequipa is also called "the white city", because
many buildings are made of light colored volcanic rock.

The volcano El Misti dominates the skyline of
Arequipa.

The monastery Santa Catalina.

The nuns knew how to live! Everything was pretty
luxurious for a monastery.
